The INGCO ING-MMA16069 is an inverter stick (MMA) welder for home, farm and workshop use — light-to-medium steelwork. It delivers 15–160 A and runs 1.6–4.0 mm electrodes.
What it is good for
- Steel doors, gates, window protection bars, railings and stairs
- Light steel frames, sheds, canopies and steel furniture
- Maintenance and repair work in workshops and on farms
Electrodes and materials
- Takes 1.6–4.0 mm electrodes. 4.0 mm electrodes run near the top of its 160 A range, so expect shorter welding time per duty cycle with them.
- Typical current for general-purpose E6013 electrodes: 2.5 mm ≈ 60–90 A · 3.2 mm ≈ 90–130 A · 4.0 mm ≈ 120–170 A. Exact ranges vary by brand and type — always use the range printed on the electrode packet.
- Mild and low-alloy steel — with general-purpose rutile electrodes (E6013) or low-hydrogen electrodes (E7018) for structural and load-bearing joints
- Stainless steel — with stainless electrodes (e.g. E308L)
- Cast iron repairs — with nickel cast-iron electrodes
- Aluminium and very thin sheet (below about 1.5 mm) are better done with TIG or MIG welding
Key specifications
- Output current: 15–160 A
- Duty cycle: 160A@60%
- No-load voltage: 72 V
- Electrode diameter: 1.6–4.0 mm
Duty cycle in practice
Duty cycle 160A@60%: measured over a 10-minute period, this means about 6 minutes of welding at 160 A, followed by about 4 minutes of cooling. At lower currents the machine can weld for longer. Staying within the duty cycle protects the machine and extends its life.
Power supply
Single-phase 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz — runs on a normal household supply. Avoid long, thin extension leads. Low or unstable mains voltage reduces the welding current available. If you use a generator, choose one with enough capacity and automatic voltage regulation (AVR).
Features
- IGBT inverter technology — lighter and more energy-efficient than a traditional transformer welder, with a stable DC arc
- Hot Start — a short current boost when the arc strikes, for easier starting
- Arc Force — raises the current when the arc gets too short, so the arc does not die out
- Anti-Stick — cuts the current if the electrode sticks, so it can be freed without damaging it
In the box (per INGCO)
- Electrode holder with cable
- Earth clamp with cable
- Wire brush
- Welding helmet
You will also need
- Welding electrodes
- Welding gloves and protective clothing
Always weld with a proper welding helmet, gloves and protective clothing, in a well-ventilated area.
